LAUNCHING FREEDOM IN THE CLOUD

Christine with Stacy Kildal at the Freedom In the Cloud conference, held at the DoubleTree Hotel in Detroit, MI. Stacy and Reesa McKenzie, Intuit Rockstars, provided insight and info on hosting your QuickBooks data in The Cloud!

I have been gathering interesting thoughts and opinions from colleagues on storing and accessing information on internet applications and hosting sites (The Cloud) And, I have recently attended Intuit’s 2014 Accountant Professional’s Virtual Conference and their Freedom in the Cloud Road Show in Detroit, all within a few weeks. It couldn’t have come at a better time as we move our company’s infrastructure towards mobile and streamlined process for our service based business.

Beyond just the applications that I have dabbled in and adopted is the mindset of mobility and security. Do we as a company have a model for other service based businesses to follow? Do we display the proper use of technology and security, and, is it all in  “A Box”.  Are we encouraging our workforce to enjoy the flexibility of a home office and do we provide the tools to channel the right information to the right buckets? Is it more secure to look to the hosted environments that live and breathe storage and security rather than hold information hostage on separate computers and multiple locations? Is emailing and shuffling files still in our protocol, perpetuating an inefficient and often dangerous practice of transporting data? (I still know of people emailing documents with sensitive data) Thankfully, we are almost there.

Launches are risky and change is difficult. And yet our company’s vision is still set on developing best practices and providing a successful model of business systems and application that are within reach of our small to mid sized market.  The trend is moving toward applications that all work together in the cloud and in our hand. This all coincides with our launch of our app and new branding. Many launches include assessing the environment and business model, developing technical plans, test runs and then the grand opening. I hope to perfect my Techinabox (available on IPhone and Droid) app strategy to push more information to those who follow me on all of our new milestones of life in the cloud.  Go to my Green Board on the Techinabox app and tell me how you utilize cloud based applications for a service based business. We are here to learn as well as to teach!
