READING CAMP 2015 @CHRISTCHURCH – DETROIT
It’s that time of year where we start to give a shout out to our annual Christ Church – Detroit Reading Camp. As one would guess, it is pretty hard to teach campers how to read in one week, but it may only take a few days to get a child so engrossed in a story that ALL they want to do is keep reading it! We certainly have had success with that. This year, the country we will be spotlighting is England (previous years included African Nations and Spain) and our theme is all about being great Spy Campers!
Reading Camp positions, such as Leaders and Assistant Leaders, still need to be filled. Volunteers and Assistant Leaders to a room can help for an hour, a day or the week. We ask that Group Leaders commit to at least the first three days so the campers can be comfortable with their new surroundings. It is as much an experience for the volunteers as it is for the campers. We have story tellers, crafts, English Cuisine, a magician, great spy activities and MORE.
We are looking for special agents to join our mission to promote reading:
