What would you say you are worth in an hour? My last blog had you thinking about how to hire out when it is smarter to pay someone else at a lower rate than what you are worth (and they do it for a living). So, this week we pose the same question but not with a who but a what. What would you pay for a software that can cut your data entry time by .0027 or, in terms that you can relate to, it is a ten second/two click process vs. 1 hour of typing. Multiply that by 4 hours of entry. What would you pay?
Four years ago, I developed a software that brought efficiency to my franchisees. The transaction importer software would format a vendor’s electronic file containing franchisees purchases and import it into QuickBooks Financial Software with two clicks. Click “Find the File” and then click “Import the File into QuickBooks”. It brings in a .csv file of different cost codes and store locations and creates a bill to the franchisee’s purveyor. I thought that since there were 10 or more franchisees screaming for this marvelous invention that everyone would see the value. I was wrong to assume that.
On a good note, I am not one to give up. I truly believe that this year’s Little Caesars Convention will bring new interest for this marvelous invention. I myself use tools such as the Transaction Pro Wizard and Big Red Consulting .IIF Creator so that I do not have to type in 17 pages of data entry when I can format it and import it in a flash. The price of the software is minimal compared to the time I save and my time is valuable.
Tell me what YOU would pay for software that transforms an hours worth of work into two clicks. What would you pay for a little magic? Contact me for a case study of the Little Caesars Transaction Importer at christine.galli@technologyinabox.net!
