The New Year

Some funny resolutions from different walks of life:

From the world of celebrities gives us Kim Kardasian’s resolution of “staying single”, but not staying out of the spotlight. Lady Gaga has a very unique quote: “My new years resolution is never be afraid to be kicked in the teeth. Let the blood and the bruises define your legacy.” My dentist would not agree.

From the automotive world, getting a sportier car, a car with All Wheel Drive (AWD) with ATS and how about that low weight, two door with a V-8 engine. A dream come true!

From a mainstream blog, the famed “Top Ten” resolutions that we have aspired to one year or another were listed in reverse order:

  • Save more money
  • Lose weight
  • Quit smoking
  • Read more books
  • Go Green (This means more initiatives for reusable and recyclable material. For those of you who know me, it also means I hope the Spartans make it to a BCS bowl in 2012)
  • Stay informed
  • Eat less fast food
  • Manage stress
  • Manage debt
  • Be charitable

So, what is an efficient way to choose your resolutions? My suggestion parallels interior decorating in a new house, or from a biblical perspective, your temple. Live in it for a month and record your thoughts of what you would like to change most and how often you felt like changing it.

In February, start with the one flaw that tugged at your heartstrings the most. Define what bothered you and what you would be like if you adopted the new habit. Visualize the outcome and write it down in detail. Then, for one day, plan how you will change your day to achieve that visualization. Have a planner, a calendar or an automated system of tracking your chosen visualization.

I would love to hear about your progress and write a blog about the journey you have chosen. Best wishes to a happier, healthier and more prosperous 2012.

Let us know your number one resolution:

Christine
