It was 1993 when I was introduced to my first experience with QuickBooks DOS 1.0, but I also remember the first time I used “The New QuickBooks Online”. Around 1997, the QuickBooks Pro Advisor group came along and we were getting more press from Intuit through their “Find a Pro Advisor” program, but it was still pretty hard finding QuickBooks help. If you were lucky, your accountant was willing to give out the names of QuickBooks consultants that they knew, including our name. It wasn’t quite when QBO came out in 2000, but it was shortly after that when a client wanted to explore the multi-location aspect of this new version of QuickBooks. At that time, anything relating to QuickBooks was fair game for our company so we jumped in to assess, implement and train. It’s been that way ever since.
15 years later, there really IS a new QBO. Mobility and functionality is where its at for 21st century companies and QBO is on the fast track to being better than ever. There have been some major changes in servicing QBO clients. Hundreds of third party applications give QBO’s platform a more robust experience. And I love using the QBO Accountant login. I sign into my QBOA account and there are all of my QBO clients at my fingertips. All of my clients are taking advantage of excellent pricing that is available through my wholesale billing feature. I have an incredible dashboard that lists my clients, their last closed accounting period and the history of their bank reconciliations. I can also use the team feature where others can work with me on projects and we can request documents from our clients. All of my QuickBooks Pro Advisor certification exams are also there with a history of my orders and other fabulous resources. All within my QB Accountant login.
For my clients, there are a host of new features and functionality with new ideas launching on a regular basis. Here are a few items with brief description to give you examples of the amazing offerings through QBO:
- NEW QuickBooks Online has a Windows app that sits on the PC desktop but it accesses all of your online QBO data. There are menus and pop out windows that give a PC look and feel to QBO. And I found it works even faster than when I am accessing QBO on a browser. There is also a QuickBooks Online App for a Mac desktop. I was on that one right as it came out. Love them both!
- IMPROVED There is a hidden gem in the gear icon called the QuickBooks Labs. If you haven’t taken advantage of all the many cool features that this houses, you are really missing out. You can turn on features such as redesigned reports and importing custom templates and take advantage of better than ever improvements to the QBO experience. Do not hesitate to jump on this one! Here is a link to more info on the QuickBooks Labs.
- DONT MISS THIS The QBO app on the IPhone is amazing. Downloading bank feeds and matching transactions with the app is better than anywhere else. How cool is it to take out your phone and send an invoice immediately. Or get alerts for overdue invoices and sending out reminders asap. It is fantastic and definitely goes with the Anywhere/Anytime mode that Intuit has been singing since QBO’s inception
It was two years ago that I decided that it was time to move my own company data into the cloud. I was on QuickBooks Enterprise (which is QuickBooks on steroids), made the switch and never looked back. My clients love when I can sign in and help them with an issue or a project without having to rely on backing up data or accessing servers. Every day, Intuit is finding another way for making QBO rock the cloud universe. So, when will YOU make the switch. If you have, tell us about your experience and what you would like to see come in the QBO cloud!
